Feedback on the Real Avid Score Tote
Other than my shotgun, the “Score Tote” is the one piece of equipment I will always bring on every turkey hunt from now on! This past Saturday was opening day in San Diego, and I was very excited at the prospect of taking a long beard from a property that I know was holding some big Toms. I was using my 12 gauge with an extra full turkey choke and 3.5 magnum #5.

I set-up about 150 yards from the roost tree and was settled in about 45 minutes before first light. After fly down, the lead hen worked her way towards me, as I tried calling softly to put her at ease. As expected the Toms were not far behind.

When the two dominate birds saw my decoys, they both puffed up and strutted their way well into shotgun range. I had to let out three alert calls before the bigger tom would come out of strut and allow me a good head shot. I took the shot at no more than 15 yards and it put him right down. With all my adrenaline still flowing I could have thrown him over my shoulder and hauled him back to the truck, but the “Score Tote” sure made it easy to carry my bird out of the woods.

The Score Tote even comes with instructions on how to calculate the total score of YOUR trophy. My bird weighed 19.8 lbs. with a 9” beard and 1” spurs, for a total score of 57.8. One of my buddies had an expensive turkey scale and he got the same weight measurements as my “Score Tote”, but of course his scale is too bulky to carry a bird and it doesn’t have a measuring tape either. You can carry a turkey with ease, weigh him in an instant, and measure both the beard and the spurs all with the “Score Tote”, a piece of equipment that fits in the palm of your hand ! BTW – Did I mention that it’s also blaze orange, in case you set in down on the ground. Thank you NAHC & Score Tote !!!
