Well designed and packaged well, comes with the correct accessories and did not expect the mounting hardware either.

Drop a star due to a lot of machining debris/swarf left on the main vise screw. Took some time to clean out, but should not have passed QC.

Best little bench vice for cleaning shotgun barrels. Was using a popular gun cleaning stand that was OK, but takes up 3 ft of your bench space. The vice freed up all that space and locks your barrel in at any angle to run a bore brush on your drill down barrel and holds it in place. Love it.

I just purchased the Master Gun Vice from Scheels, order #4113111719. I received it 03/26/2026. I don't impress easy, but this is pretty cool. I've wanted an articulating vise for awhile and this certainly fits the bill. I have to laugh, several InterWeb 'reviewers' groused about getting shipping grease on their hands. Mine arrived 'dry'. I quickly remedied that with some white Lithium grease. The vise was well packaged and arrived undamaged. I've ordered an InLine Flush Mount Quick Change Plate, Spacer, and Quick Change Top Plate #92 for the Avid Master Gunsmith vise. Even with two wood working clamps holding the vise I was able to place my PWS PCC-9 into the padded jaws and adjust the Speed Cam Lever to move the firearm in the vise jaw in any position I wanted and it would hold in that position. Surprisingly, it required only a small amount of force on the Speed Cam Lever. Overall, I'm very pleased.

When I received my Real Avid order, everything was really well packed, with no damage or observable defects. Mounting to my workbench was easy thanks to clear, intuitive instructions.

I purchased the Real Avid Master Gun Vise after a lot of research for a light- to medium-duty vise for cleaning, maintenance, and building needs. I also ordered the Smart Jaws, with the thought the Master Vise/Smart Jaws combo would assist with cleaning and maintaining my sporting clays over/under 12 gauge. The barrels aligned really well with the Smart Jaws grooves and securely clamped in everything in place. When I removed the barrels, I was very pleased to find zero marring to the high-gloss blue finish.

By the way, I rarely take time to submit product reviews; I'm doing so now to encourage others to buy these products.

This really does what its ad says. Great addition to my workbench.

Nearly identical to the IQ VISE, except a few of the features lean more towards firearm specific. The real avid is also a hair cheaper. Either they make it for iq or more likely, iq makes it for them. Nonetheless great vise, I mounted it to a stainless cart so I can move it around. I used red oak wood that was about $70 for an 8 foot piece but I wanted something solid that lasts. This has replaced my old basic vise and it's so much better in every way.

Very well made couldn't be happier with the purchase, hope to get many years of use and enjoyment from this very versatile vise. The price was better than real avid website.

The vice is nicely built, with a ball joint that lets you angle the vice and protective jaws so you don't damage the piece your working on. The jaws are made of aluminum and has reversible covers with one side foam and the other plastic.The Ball joint is a bit greasy so if your cutting or filing material on the vice I would imagine the shavings would get all stuck in the grease.

I shoot a lot of scoped rifles and this vise is a solid platform to hold a rifle while I mount a scope. I like to start with the rifle level on each axis and keep the rifle that way as I do the installation. It is so much better than my Tipton Best Gun Vise for this procedure. Nothing wrong with the Tipton Best Gun Vise except it is very limited with the features I desire. The Master Vice jaws can grab and hold an entire gun or just a rifle barrel or even small parts. I really like it as a secure, but safe, third hand when cleaning my Browning BT-99 and Citori shotguns. The installation of the vise was simple but probably unique to each person's workbench. In my case I could only use two of the supplied carriage bolts because of the bench's bracing underneath. Fortunately, I had a 2" x 1/4 lag bolt and it worked fine. (An 1-1/2" lag would have been better but I didn't have one. My only regret is that I didn't purchase it sooner.

If you're looking for a good vise to work on your firearms then look no further! Price is a bit steep, but it's well worth the cost for how much this vise helps with cleaning and gunsmithing!

I expected a chintzy Chinese product but this is a very solid, well made tool made with precision machining. It will probably not take abuse from a sledgehammer, but will work just fine for gunsmithing and small engine repair.

I'm more into woodworking and electronics.* Very versatile swiveling ball joint.* Torq-Lok accessory pin for high torque applications.* Two gun fit sleeves included with securing pins/rods.* Micro adjustment leveling cam.THE BAD:------------* Be careful handling the vice. The ball joint is smothered with grease.INSTALLATION TIP:-----------------------* This vise needs to be bolted into your workbench. The bolts included are 1/4-20 bolts. Being into woodworking, I have an assortment of 1/4-20 knobs laying around. I do not plan to have a dedicated spot for this guy, nor do I have the real estate in my garage for him. So I'll be using knobs to make the vise mobile, and easy to remove. The included nuts would require a wrench or socket wrench every time you need to undue the vise. Will be much faster with knobs. Again, the knobs in the pictures are not included. This is just my idea. If you want to use my idea, then be sure to get 1/4-20 knobs.This bench vise is 5-Stars all the way!

I have owned quite a few vises, but this it the best one for working on firearms.Due to the positioning at just about any angle you want, this will make it easier to work on any gun.Now I can clamp the upper sections from my AR15, CMMG Banshee, and a Stribog to make it easier when using a rod and patch, or a bore snake to clean the barrel.Like other reviewers have said, watch out for all the thick black grease on the rotating ball, it will make a mess if you get it on you.They include the mounting hardware, very nice.My only complaint there is no nice cover included with it to keep dust out which would cling to that grease.Plus I hope my two cats do not get curious and paw at that grease.A nice cover would fix both possible problems.Other than those two nitpicks, I dig this vise.Amazon also has the best price, many other outlets are getting $300 to $400 for it.

I needed a new light duty vise and thought I'd give this a try. Honestly, I see Real Avid as an overpriced hipster brand capitalizing on new and inexperienced shooters. However, I lost my Right Hand overseas in the military and finding tools they help me adapt and get the job done is crucial for me. While I don't think this vise will ever be as good as my old, US made vise for heavy duty stuff. I.e. removing or torquing rifle or revolver barrels. It seems like a descent vise that should suit my needs for a small, versatile vise for cleaning, optic mounting, etc. As well as acting as a second hand for us cripple folk, as it turns out, hands are surprisingly useful and versatile. The attached photo is exactly what was in the box, less a 6 page brochure style manual. Nice they included foam/plastic jaw covers as well as carriage bolts (2-3/16" 1/4") for mounting. You still wouldn't catch me using their "revolutionary" bore cleaning products. But I think this is a well executed and robust (within reason) product. Albeit maybe a tad pricey for a cast aluminum mystery alloy made in China product. Maybe I'm holding it to a higher standard that I should but, it is priced as a high tier product and labeled "Master", but will it be jack of most (not all) trades and a master of none?. I will update when it's got 30-40hrs on it and see how I like it. Or if it fails. Whichever comes first.

I really like the vise , the pins have ball detents and they fall out and I would purchsase moore but can't get a response from RealAvid. The vise itself I would have given 5 Stars.
